Challenge

The electrification of Denmark is driving a need for extensive investments in the power grid. KONSTANT Net invests DKK 300–400 million annually. The priority of investments is determined by where in the grid capacity challenges are expected to arise in the near future. To ensure a data-driven foundation, KONSTANT Net needed detailed forecasts of load factors across the company's 8,787 km power grid.

Solution

Based on consumption data, simulations, and statistics, a mathematical model has been developed that can forecast the development in load down to component level. To make prioritization simple and intuitive, the results were made available in a dynamic Power BI report with the ability to simulate scenarios and consequences.

Result

The tool has become a cornerstone in the planning and prioritization of capital investments at KONSTANT Net. It saves time, creates confidence in the decision-making process, and helps optimize the utilization of the asset base.
